Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Jealousy.
I have lived
with that boot
upon my throat.
It is an insatiable beast
that roars without provocation.
I have eaten that green fruit
and know its bitter taste.
It does not belong to love.
It is akin to fear.
It pushes away
the ones we wish to keep
to ourselves alone
to starve on bread and water.

P.S.: I just bought a jar of Barkman Honey. Found out it comes from Kansas, I bet you're familiar with it.

Yes Jerry, my first husband was insanely so, come to find out later it was his guilty conscience. Not familiar with the honey, honey. ~L

It's called Naked Wild Honey and it is at Hillsboro, KS . . . Very good honey. Sorry for taking up space with the honey situation . . .

I too, am familiar with the destructiveness of jealousy. My openness, my side work (tickling & picking) and my basic 'metabolism' is what my first wife found attractive. 21 years later, she divorced me for the same reasons. Being something of a 'naturalist', her slogan was "Keep It Green".

Honey, I consume mass quantities. About 2 pounds a week. Wherever I am, I like to buy local. Unfiltered is my preference...Honey.

Hmm, maybe she dumped me because of the grocery bills.

88 jars y'all

She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast".

But your jealousy is portrayed here, artful...your "guilt" is reasonable, thus acceptable in the human spirit of things...but don't be afraid to spill, as you have shown that you can in this poem.

So full of artless jealousy is guilt,
It spills itself in fearing to be spilt.”
― William Shakespeare, Hamlet

Tf,
You crack me up!
Sorry about the reason's she said she dumped you after 21 years. After 20 years I left my first husband because of booze, drugs and other women. ~L
