Snowflakes born of cloudy billows
Venture down the hush of night
To kiss and die on frosted fields
Sacrificed for the coming swarm
~
Heavens blanket thrown at random
Over towns and urban sprawl
Heals the wounds of broken roof tiles
Steeple church and priory bells
~
City roads burnt with amber
From the hanging swan necked Triffids
Ghost moths in their thousands dancing
On the sodium spotlight stage
~
Engines yield to impatient turning
Coaxed, cajoled to reluctant life
A young child clears the misted window
Gazes down on wonderland

Yes indeed, snow brings out what seems like unworldly things, even the snow itself can be foreign in nature, especially for a southerner like me. Loved your poem.

"To kiss and die on frosted fields
Sacrificed for the coming swarm"

perfect, thats exactly how it begins...

This poems ends very well. I still see through the eyes of a child, so I can relate.

BTW...I am a nurseryman...please send me some Triffid seeds. I'd like to try growing them in the U.S......

That wonder of snow shines through in your poem, enjoyed the read, I keep hoping for some here for Christmas but it doesn't seem likely.
Thanks
Pete

Thanks everyone for reading and your kind comments, the only value a poem has is what the reader gives to it.

Ice—Sure I can send some Triffid seeds but be very careful when you transplant them and for Gods sake don’t let Trump get his hands on them.
