willows weeping, lovers sleeping British breezes never rest o'er the isles in slumbers keeping this shall be my solemn quest where my feet do trod the thresholds of the maidens fair and few, when in London (pray the natives) lay your efforts as they do for where the dawn shall meet you kindly there the wise man's flag will flail Union Jack will then discover masts at half yet full to sail She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

Lyrical, like a sea shanty, sung when the sailor is far from home Thanks Tick--enjoyed reading this. "Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance." |

You are very good at this kind of wonderment of the British . . . ~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (12-14-2015 10:09 PM).] |

It is so well written, it is captivating though very enigmatic. As I have just read about a BBC journalist flying close over the Chinese "new-built" islands in international waters close to the Philippines, I was induced to think you referred somehow to this high-risk event ... of course I may be totally wrong. Smooth and easy with an old time flavor, like an in-port ale. Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me! |

Maybe a small picky I have is with the word ‘trod’ which reads rather odd. I think ‘tread’ or ‘that trod’ is more in context. That apart, I think that this poem is the best I’ve read from you so far, really well written and to the point. |

I could hear this being sung too. You are a versatile writer! ~L |
