Palm Springs commercial photography

They romped tireless on the beach
taking shade under a huge
umbrella, waiting to catch
the sun in dying colors.

My granddaughters built boxes
of their hands, peering at the
sun through their fingers, pretend
they had on horse’s blinders.

Never red was a rainbow –
So they invented new shades:
Dark Tomato Catsup, Ripe
Plum, Golden Syrup, Fried-Just-
Right Chile-dog, Strawberries
and Ripe Cherries-in-season,
Ready-to-eat Nectarine,
and best of all – Ice Cream in
Rich-Fudge Chocolate, yum yum.

One more time before summer ended
they watched it drop in graceful curtsy
near purple as it embraced the edge of sea -
a grand old dame making an elegant exit.

Such a lovely image of children and their ever-so-innocent perspectives. This is what the world really needs; to be more childlike.

Fabulous line here Miss jjote:
quote:
"a grand old dame making an elegant exit".

You spread a good deal of happiness with your poetry.

Oh boy, was this one ever jam-packed with vision, colorful language, and best of all a newness and innocent way of thinking.

Love it when a poet captures moments and, expresses them well in harmony, and diction..
Well done J.

I would take license and forego the image of  grandchildren, if I may, as I relate to this first of your offering.

"They romped tireless on the beach
taking shade under a huge
umbrella, waiting to catch
the sun in dying colors".

I thought that we were alone.

Here's to you and here's to me and should we ever disagree, here's to me!

Thanks everyone for taking time to read.

Mr. M, are you thinking of starting the 2nd verse of "I thought we were alone"...who's "we", sorry I can't get your drift. I could be dense this morning

Loved this jjote..from beginning to end.
Your imaging was wonderful, & the last stanza
right as rain.

Enjoyed..

I can imagine the peals of laughter at each successively extreme invented colour, great images in your writing.
Thanks
Pete
