Strangers Along this ancient forest path still reaching into deep Autumn and a distant dream, the November wind brushes ripples on the woodland pond that vanish, in the settling twilight, like the moments of our lives, leaving only only fading memories. What remains most sadly unfortunate is how easily those we love can become strangers. Being this alone should be a choice not a hallmark. --- b. e. adams (Turkey day, 2015) |

quote:When this occurs, one could try to 'court and spark' the 'stranger' again or with the same effort, find a new love that will reciprocate your affections in a kind, thoughtful and sincere way. There was a song that said it quite well I thought, so allow me to share it with you: https://youtu.be/5J_QoDrNhNo Good heartfelt poetry SHDP. 88's friend She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

yes ... I'm well aware of that song (and Pitney) ... thanks for sendin' that great link though (I wasn't aware of that on YouTube) ... Philosophically (even if it hasn't worked for me) I do agree with it (as I have written) ... leaps of faith (what a 'poet' must 'believe') Despite all the sham, cynicism, and broken dreams of the past, I must simply trust that all cynics become believers, when, by the magic of fate, destiny, or accidental miracles, they find someone or something to believe in. Such a man and a women together in new love ... become fully real and limitless. --- b. e. adams (in defense of love, Romanticism, and 'taking chances') |

"What remains most sadly unfortunate is how easily those we love can become strangers." You're so right for these lines, and I for one still remember those whom we have become strangers. Nice thoughts and very sobering. |

Eh . . . I have come to the conclusion that we acquire the love we deserve, and if is just isn't to be we should give our head a shake and live on, not spend countless months, years even, crying about it. I speak from experience, I have done my share of crying, Bruce. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Me too, JP ... (the cryin' that is!) ... I suppose many hard-line 'observers' would designate me as rather a 'poster boy' for 'life and love' failures ... As always, thank you for your comment/reply post on my lil' "poetic scribble!" |

Your forest imagery is very good, conscious or unconscious I suppose we all choose the path and having chosen are marked by it, no-one remains unchanged by life. pete |

the 'Zen' thought would likely be that we cannot truly travel the path until we have become the path itself ... |
