Fluttered Like Doves |

His hands were handsome and neat but two degrees too cool. His eyes were a captivating blue but so steely as to suggest a threat. He was tall, dark and lean, his manner precise. Impeccably dressed, although he still looked mean and cold as ice. He undoubtedly had wealth and the great fortune of health. His presence was domineering, his theme reoccurring as he eyed the hapless debutantes. Their innocence was not lost on his manipulative mind. He practiced a smile that made him look kind in case they were wary. Then he swooped in to capture his quarry. They fluttered like doves, they murmured and cooed all wishing to be wooed by this handsome man of gold. They were all too naïve to notice that his hands and eyes were cold. They were all swept away as he took their pale hands and ever so carefully pressed them to his thin lips. Each one in turn shuddered, flushed and swooned. He played them each like fiddles finely tuned. He left each one smitten and convinced that she’d be his one and only. Little did they know life to be so lonely being married to a man with twelve wedding bands. LGR©11/17/15 |

Hello there Miss Lori! "12 wedding bands"? You, JerryPat and I have our work cut out for us if we're to top that act! To be so young and so naive is more understandable (if not expected) than to be old and naive. Sometimes I sit in the local park and wait to be accosted by young beautiful girls. No such luck Had a good read of it Miss Lori. 88's friend She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

Haha, unexpected twist to the ending, I thought he is the handsome Dracula, but then the next one will be the 13th? |

Thanks Tf. I was just working a little of the creepazoid out of my system from reading Mr. Martini. I am sooooo not a blood and stuff person, I just could not go there. But my guy was kinda creepy- I didn't like him. ~L |

I wasn't speaking of writing JerryPat, I was referring to the marriage tally. My lame attempt at levity. I still reflect on my 'previous entanglements' with respect and humor. They always quit laughing 10 minutes before I did. 88's friend She told me "play one for your supper Danny and maybe you'll get breakfast". |

At the start I had a vision of you checking hand temperatures Fun poem, especially when I misread the last three words and came up with "twelve wedding hands". Hope I don't offend but lots of He's and His's. Enjoyed. Thanks. Pete |

Pete, you did not offend. Just think of the he and his as a cat hacking up a hairball as the point of the whole poem for me was to exorcize some ugliness out of my system. ~L |

I think your poem, Lori, was a finely written expose of certain kind of men who make a career out of charming women, even into marriage, only to leave them stranded as time goes by and begins a search for a replacement, one who will fall by the wayside also because this man has no heart, only passion, and even that falls way short when it comes go relationships. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

I have met men with just such a countenance, Lori. No naïve deb here though, and avoidance was easy. I have, however, been fooled by smarmy when it was wrapped in warm hands and fiery eyes. sigh... Enjoyed your poem very much! Smiles, Constance |
