A little different kind of poem for me these days, there was a time all my poems rhymed. This one hearkens back to those days when I privately wished I’d never been born. It was a hot, but pleasant day, The front porch was cool in the shade, Inside the house I heard her weep, And so help me God, I was afraid. 'Neath a strawberry preserve sky, Me and my woman shared our pain. All alone, with no one around, We walked, side by side, down the lane. It was in the morn's early hour, The sun just peeking o'er the trees, We spoke not a word as we trod, The two of us and one made three. A rusty gate opened for us, We walked past it toward the grave, I dug with my hands yesterday, Sun was hot, woman called brave. A wooden casket that I'd made, Sat by the grave for sweet boy Blue. He's gone from us, he went away, Died two days ago with the flu. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Cool reflections in black and white. Easy on the read friend with a pleasant afterglow. The most difficult of times make the most inspiring muse, don't you 'gree? 88's to you. She told me [i]"play one for your supper and you'll get breakfast"[i/]. |

This is as tender as strawberry preserves are sweet. Better to be born into love for a little while than to feel you lived a lifetime never knowing it. If it were my choice, I'd rather not be born, by whatever means, than be born where I am not wanted. But that's just me. I feel like you have fermented your past and aged it to perfection in this piece and now you have a rare burgundy. ~L |

To lose a child is the worse pain I think...you expect to lose your parents at some point but never a child...backwards...sigh. |
