Final Declaration

The clunking
of the plane's wheels
releasing their hold
on the ground,
and folding up to hide
behind wind-blocking plates
of silvery, metal skin,
was the final declaration
at the end
of the last thing you said.

Goodbye.

My soul stayed behind,
with you

A final clunk . . .
and the clouds
clutched me
to the sky,
a misty haze
outside the window,
hiding the world.

You've stolen my soul . . .
and I am so empty,

without

it.

Your words convey emptiness and great despair. I, as so many, can absolutely relate. It is a pity that we can, Jimmy.
