Some had roamed stray frozen to the marrow, some abandoned on box cars some born right there, by the struggle of their mother, once caged I look at them my browns scan their blues and greens and violets and every other color, imaginable some come sit with me some scurry by, some strike me with anger, still stung by the hand of a 'human' I have to play God deciding who will be released today for some free roaming time reprieved from the dreaded cage that I can't help but fantasize that inside the cage, were those more deserving than the innocents that dwell in them I believe some have come to like me and know I would never ever hurt them some may even love me, but there is no place or use for vanity or pride here all my heart may pine away for is that they know that I love them. *for those who know the heart of an animal* |

Poetry for the caged ones is beautifully rendered, Emma, with sadness in its wake. Ahhh . . . I know what it is like to be caged . . . But at least, in my case, and so many others, our direct action put me in that cage. I have a feeling these animals you write so eloquently about are innocent and are only put in that cage just because of who/what they are . . . ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

You are sensitive to their feelings and life. No animal should be caged and so many are. nice post, Jo |

I can empathize with this, a cat and a yorkie lives with my granddaughters, even now that they have grown up, and the yorkie is dying, still they would not part with it. |
