It was under the rise of a tender sea of grass that came their way that day
How she picked up a small rose from the ground and lifted it with her fingers
Placing it behind her right ear
As he followed her, closely, without hesitation

Lavender dress, thin laced straps, diagonal of one another behind her back
Diamond laced necklace placed around her neck
With skin that touched the cream tone sky that watched over her as she began to waltz, glide
And he continued to follow her
In awe of her every move, of how she began to raise her hands as she motioned over to him
To stand by her side.

Without hesitation he quickly stood next to her
As he slowly began to look at the right side of her cheek
As if the rose that still stood behind her ear could somehow speak
Could somehow feel every part of those patient cheeks that never wavered
Even as the wind began to thrust with more force.

He simply couldn’t take his eyes off of her
Those eyelashes; long and thick
As his hands began to fixate on how her hips could move with such a slender touch
That he pressed against them, placing his hands slowly up to her cheeks
Falling over himself as he tried to keep up
Until they reached the top of the hill
Where the valley stood just a few miles ahead
As they finally stopped moving
each part of their lips
Hers plush, his a bit thin
Touched, braced one another
Placing their hands across each other’s necks
As they kissed
like the fields did with the sea of grass watching
smiling and embracing that moment
for the rest of their lives.

I love romantic poems like this where the lady love is mesmerizing to the lover. I think all women secretly wish to have such an impact on their love interest. To know there is someone who sees their ordinary as extraordinary. I enjoyed this! ~L
