Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Thunder rumbles around
peach colored clouds
at sunrise,
teasing the ground
with hints of rain.
Accompanying winds cool down
last night’s lingering heat
in anticipation.
As the sun rises,
the peach fades to gray
and the thunder rolls slowly on.
Quiet returns
and the little dog quivering
under the bed sighs
and finally returns to sleep.

We could do with some rain here in the swamp. I believe I came close to having a heat stroke yesterday afternoon walking Zoe. If not that I know I was involved with heat exhaustion. I actually had to take a cold shower after I got home, I felt very weird. Anyway, it is too damn hot, even for the swamp.

Gotta watch that heat!! I cannot handle the direct sun. Next time take a wet towel or handkerchief and put around your neck. Hats are good for keeping the head cool. A bottle of water is a must to either drink or wear!
Be careful it can really sneak up on you!!

yes, I am sure it was heat exhaustion. I have had that happen a few times in my life and so understand.I had it happen twice this summer as I tend to work in the yard I until the job  I am on is finished. Two were really a heat strokes as I was not in the sun.I never think of a hat and even the day I was using the hose my body warned me to get back into the house where upon another shower was taken and a short rest.Be very careful out there Jerry. best to you,Jo

Jo,
Sorry to hear about your heat troubles. I know once you have had a bad time with the heat you are never the same....heat will forever be your nemesis.  ~L
