Battered and bruised for fifteen moons she arose to greet a fresh, new sun. Owl |

Thank you jjote. Short, but I wouldn't describe it as sweet! |

Thank you, Martyjo. Thank you for pondering and your kind concern. The good thing is that this is AFTER the Rough Ride, so I am free and safe again. |

Thank you, James. I wasn't physically abused - it was a cyber relationship, but a year long relationship and then 3 months more, thus 15 months in total, of all the possible abuses when things didn't go his way. There were wonderful times too - as I suppose is the chant of all abused people. But yes, I am finally safe. My downfall was that I loved him too much, and when he had eventually destroyed my love, I still cared too much about his welfare. I still do, but my only route for my own sanity is no contact whatsoever either from him or to him, and I am now safe from that, and I will see to it that the scars heal. |

Merci, Yann, pour tes gentils mots - c'est vrai, c'est le beau temps qui vient, mais il prend longtemps. [This message has been edited by OwlSA (07-11-2015 04:23 PM).] |

I'm so happy for your emancipation! I know it wasn't easy. I understand completely and I'm so sorry you had to experience that. You learned your lessons quickly and moved on. I wasn't so bright. It is in the hard times that we have the opportunity for the most growth and gratitude. Bless your beautiful heart! ~L |

Thank you, Lori. No, it wasn't easy. My downfall was loving him too much and once he had killed my love for him (well, almost), caring too much about his well-being, which gave him the power to punish me even more. It wasn't as quickly and as easily as the poem makes it sound. I was with him for a year and had a further 3 months of punishments. Fortunately it was a cyber relationship, otherwise it could have been much worse. But yes, you are right - it IS in the hard times that we have the opportunity for the most growth and gratitude. I wish more people were aware of that. I am not so sure my heart is beautiful, but thank you for thinking so and thank you for blessing it. I am intensely sorry that you have/had the same sort of thing, especially as I guess that you are not talking about a cyber relationship, but something much longer and much worse. |
