In Memoriam 1776 - 2015
(Memorial Day - 2015)

Was it a shot!
A bomb!
A knife!
Hands that choked life away!

Was it nothing more
than senseless
stupidity –

that took life
from these men
and women
who lay
in what should be
hallowed ground,
but is not!

Because we put them there!

With our better than thou,
attitudes.

One-thousand, Seven Hundred,  Seventy-six –
so different
the years.

Two-thousand, Fifteen -
and we've learned . . .

Nothing!

~ ~ ~

May God, in what-ever his emanation,
race, color, creed or personal preference,
have mercy on all
who have given their lives
for the faults
of those left behind.

Thanks Jerry and Michael - we're not attending any ceremonies this year - although my heart will be with those who do.
