hah! we are born and soon the nickels and dimes begin to confront us in not such gentle a ways surely you’ve heard the expression nickel and dime us to death the unusual seems to want tender beneath a full moon breakable a careful cloud scuttles across its anxious angels flying hushed tonight when the time is compliant they will bring their fragile deposit careful kisses upon his clever before they leave they take them back blushing the moon tames the clouds and shines naughtily a tear in the corner of his precious man in the moon has removed himself from the closet telling the stars those curious and clever stars that he is waiting for the cow that jumped over the moon that’s what it’s all about sometimes in this life of ours big events, say a hundred dollar event volcanoes and hot, hot lava destroying everything in its path we manage to rise above that even the hurricanes or . . . major forest fires again we rise above it but in the end the nickel and dime stuff gets to us the daily abuse the daily defeats and everyday is the same monotonous sameness, holding things like the snake which can strike unseen watch out for your heart do not allow it to wear down no . . . to battle the nickel and dimes we must keep our hearts pure and diligent do not allow the nickels and dimes to catch you asleep at the wheel and beat you down ©April 9, 2015 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

How timely! I think I have nickel and dimeitis. I was wondering what was wrong with me and I think you have nailed it. I related very well to this piece. ~L |

Ah, a tribute to the little tediums. I think I allow myself to be buried far too often by these. I like the feel of this one Jer, it leaves one looking up. Michael |
