(I know there are many angles from which to approach this statement, this is the one that inspired me.) TODAY TRUTH IS ON LIFE SUPPORT scripture says, God uses the foolish to confound the wise, the wise to confound the foolish man’s wisdom is foolish at best and rarely stands the test of time unless anchored in God’s truth some say, “God’s word, the Bible, is merely a metaphor, and metaphor may prove ambiguous at best “Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see,” while others say, “Seeing is believing.” That was certainly Thomas’ bent when confronted with the truth that has confounded man– twenty centuries long. Yet Thomas placed his hands within the wounds on His wrists and in the depth of His side capturing truth on every hand. “Blessed is He who believes, yet does not see," faith is the power by which that one stands upon the anchor of His Word. figurative speech as simile depends on life’s experience for understanding yet comparison is as “like or as” for its connection yet metaphor does not use similarity but states that which is “IS” “A mighty fortress is our God.” not, –our God is like a mighty fortress– in which degrees of truth may ration worth choices=defining moments will you be defined in truth? will you live by truth? Virginia Salter 3/31/15 (quotes may be exact or paraphrase of one translation or another, also "A Mighty Fortress is Our God," is the title of the hymn inspired by scripture.) The angle we're most often taught... Though I think most people question that teaching at some point in their lives and many, keep their battle hidden in a private struggle. |

Ah, yes, and we can argue until we're blue or red in the face, but in the end, Truth will win out and there is nothing we can do or say to change truth. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
