Father looks down on his newborn child a mirror of his image, concealing a secret smile hiding among the stars both seemingly absorbed in metaphysical musings taking time to enjoy life's precious small pleasures. How the heart can careen in his chest to gaze into her eyes casting beauty like a spell or a glow of starlight behind thin cloud here is something spiritual that pierces the veil into a world beyond this one- a smudge of heaven for even a tiny fleeting second. |

I will never forget the feeling of holding my first born (a daughter) for the first time. ~*~ When they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

Beautiful thoughts here.I saw the looks my husband cast when each one of his six children were born. And again I saw that look and the smiles of each of those six when they brought home a new born. Those smiles and glances will never be repeated because those feelings are stronger than the look given to any other, even to a first love. Those first six have multiplied to 13 grandchildren and six great grands. Each one of those newborns received the precious looks of pure clean devotion as was the first born to us. I enjoyed your post, Jo |

Lovely. I see this as paralleling God's love for his newborns, and a man's love for his child. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |
