Too often, too many givings are given without thought deeper than a generic that will do and check another name off the list. The gift of giving is lost on those whose busy burdens steal their time to contemplate their own true heart’s desire to give what is really wanted… To caress each one with singular thought, to bless their holiday hearts with warmth and cheer. Lori, yes,Too often this is true. I have been fortunate in that most who kindly give to me, know me well and use that thought. JO |

I was going through some old emails and found this. I know in years past the burden of "buy, buy, buy." has put a damper on my joy of giving. But I think as I have gotten older I am sweating the small stuff less. |

Yes. Someone a while back sent me some doodles. They are still on my wall and I look at them daily. That was a present given with good feeling and I will always treasure it. ~*~ When politicians give up on liberty, it falls to poets to preserve it. Or write its epitaph. ~*~ |

That is so true, dear Lori. If someone you truly loved gave you a Cartier watch, or cupped your face in their hands, and said: 'My God, I love you.' Which would you prefer? Yes, I'm getting a bit soppy, but who cares? It's Christmas. |

Lori and Jerry, One day one of my grandchildren wrote on the hall way wall with a magic marker and drew a picture. After that I drew some stick figures and invited every grand child to write on the wall and make their mark. One child decided to put a dress one of the figures I put there. My son added a sun with rays up on the corner. And over the years I prized that wall. One day I needed repair work to the bath fixtures and with out asking or saying a word the plumber and his helper took out a large piece of the wall to get to the bath shower and recovered the cut out place.I saved those cut out pieces but had to repaint the wall. Lori and Redstart. Yes that is what a woman really wants: to feel the love not see it in a gift bought from a store.jo |

Jerry, Redstart and Joe, It is always the thought that counts. One Xmas when my boys were small and we had very little money, their father told me what all he wished he could have gotten me for Xmas. I don't remember now what all he said. What I do remember is that he had paid attention and really did know what I wanted. That was the best gift I got from him in the 20 years we were together. |
