When you move in close to me I don't know what I should do, Cause you're a special hope I keep In my heart for future moves. I know you don't know my mind Cause to you I'm just a friend But when you touch your hand on mine I wish it would never end. You see me there every day In the work place where we meet Then you go to lunch with him And I stay tongue in cheek Why can't I pick someone else Who runs free and loves my type With a love beyond all help With laughing days torrid nights But there you are back again Smiling right there by my side I swear this hope I keep will send My soul into decline. true love never looks after it's own interests [This message has been edited by ethome (12-20-2014 05:55 AM).] |

New lyrics Eric or a true about you? If true you need to let her know your feelings. You never know, she may be thinking the same as you. By the way I have been listening to your blues. Are you the writer of the verses? Are you the voice also? Very good I enjoy your site and have it saved. Bestto you, JO |

By the way, is there a typo in the word "tongue" in S-3, L-4? |

I maintain, Eric, that love is the cause of more sadness and sorrow and misery than anything in the world. ~*~ When politicians give up on liberty, it falls to poets to preserve it. Or write its epitaph. ~*~ |

Jerry I have to agree but then love has a tendency to make us humans extremely irrational and in so many ways emotionally confused. Thanks for the visit and the comment. true love never looks after it's own interests |

I love the sweet melancholy you convey here, dear Eric. But, come on guys, why would your soul go "into decline" because of a dream of love. Give it a chance. To renounce for fear is not the solution. Sing it, dear Eric, in her presence, as if you did just hum for yourself and then you will see how she reacts ... Very lovely. Love your positive attitude, but us guys are silly proud and can't take the chance on a rejection that might be so final. By the way, this is not happening in my life it's just a lyrical expression. You gals are so resilient and you can get on with your life almost right away, most of the time, I mean....... us guys are much more sensitive than we like to admit. I try to admit that in this old blues song I wrote.. Lies That Gave Us Hope By Eric (Rick) True It's five O'clock in the morning first night alone's slipped away the curtains on this open window flutter as the breeze's play I stare out at the lonely street gazing through the falling rain I sit here thinkin why we said good-bye yesterday. Chorus: we got Wrapped up in each other trying hard to find love but we got lost together lying in each others arms longing for that magic feeling a love song we'd both know until we stopped believing in the lies that gave us hope In two more hours I leave this room to fade into the working day I'll see you around sometime but things'll never be the same Still I wish I could hold you now one more time to ease the pain cause this emptiness I can't express has filled my heart again. Chorus: we got Wrapped up in each other trying hard to find love but we got lost together lying in each others arms longing for that magic feeling a love song we'd both know until we stopped believing in the lies that gave us hope true love never looks after it's own interests |

Dear Eric, sometimes I get carried away , but I am glad that my comment caused you to share this other most beautiful, poignant and poetically excellent song of yours. I will admit that heart pain inspires poets as much as does heart joy. Luckily! In my long life I have seen both women and men suffer tremendously for a lost love. Considering the history I think women have suffered so much more and that's why we have learned in time to cope better. Whatever, I love sensitivity in men. Too much pride can be a bad thing, but also too much transparency. It's always a matter of balance. Have a wonderful Sunday, dear Eric. Margherita "Love is the One who masters all things; |

Eric, Having brought up three boys to men and three girls to women hood, I feel you are about right. The young men seemed to be more upset then the young women did as they moved along the escalator to life. I had a few more talks to the heartbroken boys then the girls.Maybe because the girls always talked things over with their girl friends. Boys hold it in more. Just my observation. Jo |

Margherita I always enjoy your insight and comments. Thanks for reading the song lyrics too. Maybe the real answer is hidden somewhere, I really don't know. In it's greatest simplicity Queen sang "crazy little thing called love" Gotta agree...... true love never looks after it's own interests |

Hi Yann, maybe you're right maybe I'm just too scared to take a chance in this lyrical development??? I appreciate your comments and the visit. Hi Jo Well I really can't argue much with your experience in this field judging from your history with boys to men and girls to women. I know it's always been a common belief that women/girls mature quicker than men and I really think they do. Thanks for such insightful comments I really appreciate them. Thanks RS I believe most of us have whether we want to admit it or not.......Seems insurmountable at the time but we do get over it in time.... true love never looks after it's own interests |

Love is a dangerous thing eh? I'm not sure I believe love causes pain...if that makes any sense at all. I believe it's all the expectation and hopes and dreams. sometimes we build it up so much in our head and leave it there, never conveying any of it to the person who matters....I'm rambling haha Sorry. Lovely write- both of them. Enjoyed. -Trina |

Hi Trina Thanks for the comment and analysis. I guess we all look in different directions when it comes to figuring out some explanation for the condition of love if there is an explanation. Been thousands of books written about it but then we read another person's opinion. If you ever figure it all out please get back to me......LOL! true love never looks after it's own interests |
