[NOT THE REAL CYPRESS BUT CLOSE ENOUGH]

eh . . . doesn't happen very often
but sometimes
that old friend from the past
comes to call
friends name is despair
when that happens I usually
find my way to a place
of comfort
when the weather is nice
like it has been lately
a placeI accidentally found
an ancient cypress tree which sets
a good piece back from
the bank of Bayou Lafourche
if the weather is good
I go there
when despair comes knocking
it is a peaceful place
I sit at the base of the monster cypress
close my eyes and listen
to nature's voice around me
I do this
until there comes a time
I recognize the elegance of this place
it liberates me

Wonderful, dear Jerry. The trees have a very special healing energy indeed. You have chosen the right place to restore peace and serenity inside.

The old tree is a symbol of wisdom. And you yourself have gained much wisdom over the years.
To your credit you attempt to share what you have learned both good and bad with us that we might have an easier time than you. You are a good man my friend.

Many thanks, Margherita, I know you're correct about the trees.

Hah! Sometimes I wonder about how much wisdom I have acquired, Lori. Most days I don't think near enough.

roots below the earth
branches touch the sky
what better place for the poet
to both lose and find himself

I like this very much

It is wise to know that we can never acquire enough wisdom.
