within the whisper of yesterday and now of anticipation now . . . of a dream words are imbedded deeply carved in the heart of the poet the words become his children to lavish praise and teach them where to go and grow the poet challenges the words as if they were colors of his heart and soul bequeathing to them the spirit of interlocking freedom he has done his best and that makes him smile If they give you ruled paper write sideways. |

they are like that, precious children, that we guide and nurture, putting care into and we, the poet then take pride in our creations All that and more |

Children indeed! It is hard to take when people don't treat our children the way we think they should. Especially if our children are "outstandingly unique". Because they are "our" children we understand them completely. It is hard to be patient with "outsiders" when they don't understand or simply are at a loss for words. I think your "children" are stronger than you think and can take the pressure of standing alone uncommented upon. We often think the reaction to our children is a direct personal response to us. It is not. |

Jerry, I wrote you a really long reply to this poem (then lost it in cyber somewhere)about your "children" and how outstandingly unique they were. I said that because they are "our" children we understand them completely, but sometimes it takes "outsiders" a while to understand them, if ever, and that can be hard to take. We always have a tenancy to take the responses to our children personally because they are so much a part of us. I also said that I thought they (your children) were strong enough to withstand the pressure of standing alone to be read without comment. "No comment" in no way means NOT WELCOME. So please quit taking your children and going home. Lori |
