I've a theory that in the end I'll be wearing an auburn wig and crying a lot, all sewn up, all sold out, I'll carry a rope and a whistle, my vowels will go all sugary and soft sometimes seething, even now as I place a silver bullet on the mantle and say, go for it, here is a light, this is the end. On Wednesdays, I'll practice a French accent in the foyer, draw a perfect line in the dust on my dresser, here is my bed, this is the end, over and over again, I finger a fake compass that hangs at the end of a shiny gold chain, apocalypse is just a theory in my head, a tiny machine, its silver blue gears spinning over and over an approximation of feathers, it becomes inconsolable when I say, NO, yeah, my apocalypse theory is nothing if not crudely wrought, nothing if not over the top, and in the evenings it drowns me out in its blue and immaculate radio static, sadly, there is too much metal in the water, and the door begins to swell in its jamb, spoons bend backward in their humidity and the kitchen smells of fever and pitch, there is a thick sediment in the iced tea, and then, this is when the girl I was begins to see things, bluish shadows peek from beneath their quilts, a quiver, flies gather at my hem, trilling over and over again, in the end, everyone is always falling down while running from something, everyone. always. falling. over and over again, here, it is dark, this is the end. |

Okay. You made me sit up and take notice. I love your darkness and how you describe what it is to you. quote: A mismatched of the sweet and sour here. Rope and whistle. Sugary and soft, sometimes seething. I love it. I love it I tell you. ~*~ When politicians give up on liberty, it falls to poets to preserve it. Or write its epitaph. ~*~ |

Dark has always been my forté. I don't do much writing these days because even if I don't necessarily feel it at the start, too much writing eventually eclipses whatever light I might actually have about me at the moment. I only bring this up because I found this downright inspiring. Many things have moved me to write in my life, but seldom another person's "dark" is written well enough to do that. Kudos. Michael |

Michael...first off...thank you for such a lovely comment...that anything I write can spark anything at all in someone else makes me happy...and it is true what you say....I really believe that I write my best poetry in my darkest moments...I mean for me personally it is a coping mechanism...so when I'm happy and preoccupied in the stuff of life...I rarely ever write...it is when I am...in my darker, self reflective and often sullen moments when I can attempt to grapple with my despair...lest it consume me...completely. Thank you, again...for putting up with this...and for the hug in the dark...it's good to know I am not alone in this... Xoxo

You should have been a play writer. Your poetry flows so effortlessly and your visuals are so life like. Excellent poetry...the darkness becomes you bella. |

Thanks so much, Blue....sadly, I have always lacked the discipline and the focus to write anything more than a poem...LOL...

as always ... powerfully emotive writing. I find it quite fascinating how different are the 'writing styles' of the fine 'poets' that walk these fine blue sands of 'P.I.P.-land' by the cyber-sea. I most typically write only the 'light' and seldom venture beyond the edge of 'darkness' ... been there too many times, world-wide. |

Was I just watching a movie? Yes! And this is the end. Love to read your exquisite words. But sometimes they make my brain hurt. They make me think... Love it, for sure, my friend! JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |
