Tasman Sea Lost oceans heave and swell barricades of love give way rain comes on like a magic spell drag this carcass 'round all day at the underbelly of the world, the mast is a burial sheet and in the glint of a pearl the imperfection runs deep and you can't get to sleep when you're tumbling with me on the wild Tasman Sea Last motions in the dark are still swimming in my mind blue-green coral of the heart has smashed my hull time after time and at the bottom of the earth the captain has run aground in the throes of inebriated rebirth the night has fallen without a sound and you can't ever be found when you're a cork tossed with me on the wild Tasman Sea Love, stranger than the natives' tongue danger you can't ever run from but I am the blue ocean's son and still I can have my fun with you it's all I can do Lost oceans rage with fury torrential rain beats down Aotearoa drums pound so eery sandy footprints lie all around Kare Kare comes into sight pulse pounds with the rhythm stars dot the ceiling of night between finger and thumb too many to count, every one and you can't see the sun when you're diving with me into the wild Tasman Sea Love, stranger than this alien land danger you can't even understand but I am the green forest's man and still I can raise a little sand with you it'll all I can do "I will hang on the hook of your splendor" -Snow Patrol, 'Dark Roman Wine' |
