Courtney Drive in April It is April, the plum trees on our old street are just about now sprouting their bloodline ~ we know what will evolve. Barefooted, street smart kids will plan a beginning - an adventure. We will loot the trees of their bejeweled full lusty treasure sometime in mid-June, just before the birds harvest them. Oh, we won't know of the bellyache, nor the rules we were breaking, but we will remember the laughter of the overnighters and all of the secrets of being 14. For Peggy. For the street we lived on. For 1965. (c) KRJ 4-25-12 |

Your poem brought on a smile as I remembered when we all played baseball in the street and had the best time laughing together. Enjoyed your poem Sunshine. Ms. E |

Like Startime, we raided the watermelon patch, but whatever we raided was fair game. We were breaking the rules, and that was a fantastic thrill. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Lovely peek into the past. Kids will do anything to have that kind of feast. We used to rob McMann's cherry tree and the thrill of it all was the aprehension of getting caught. Really enjoyed the read Karilea. Memories can be so soothing sometimes and so REAL! Eric true love never looks after it's own interests |

Nice...reminds me of the walnut trees, the pomegranite trees, the blackberries, the farmers peanuts under the corn, the watermelons, all the neighbors foods available in my journeys through the neighborhood as a child. |

fine 'slice of life' and tribute write! where are those 'time machines' when we need 'em ?! These days, I often wish it was 1960-somethin' again ... 'cause this double-post-modern "Runaway American Dream" no longer makes much sense at all (to me at least)! |
