MAY Pink blossom and the Hawthorn white Why deadly is the shade of night Young girls around the Maypole dance Their suitors watch or preen or prance Lovebirds signal the early dawn In mystic woods the dappled Fawn The Cuckoo soon to steal a nest And young therein eternal rest But this is life and Natures' way Who lives to see another day For in the Spring, new life begins And from the brood one duckling swims This month of May and Flower Moon As Darling Buds begin to bloom |

What a lovely poem to read as we in this part of the world welcome in winter. Takes the edge off the cold somewhat. Thank you. Helen |

Very well written May poem. No doubt Nature's ways are sometimes quite cruel, but how mesmerizing are her Spring manoeuvers to our hearts! Margherita ![]() |

Lovely poem, Michael. The Maypole is one of my fondest childhood memories. Unfortunately the powers that be decided there is something wrong with Maypoles and now children are deprived of this wonderful memory. Ida |

An excellent poem for me to read this morning...thank you "And the Spring arose on the garden fair, Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere; And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast Rose from the dreams of its wintry rest." P.B.Shelly..."The sensitive plant". |

I think Spring must be "Life's" favorite time of year - certainly seems that way and as your poem shows, looks that way... enjoyed j. |
