Mirror Of Life
By Paul Wilson

The depth with which we look inside
the mirror of life at our existence
measured only by our imagination
defines what we are and will be
for all eternity

Unknown battles faced each day
enemy often never revealed
proceed with caution
within your realm
lest you be consumed

Dreams are calling
calling you
spread your wings and soar
beyond the boundaries
of your imagination

Reality of what tomorrow holds
we can not conceive
give us the strength to believe
our fate unknown
till hour of our death is upon us

Take comfort from love ones
during your battles
let them be your tether
let them be your strength
let your spirit soar on heavens wind

This journey you are on
will have many twist and turns
do not be forsaken
in your final hours
all will be revealed

~~To share my poems with you is to share my heart with you~~

Excellent bit of philosophizing and down home telling it like it is. I particularly liked the fact that you included with all those battle we will have during our lifespan was the dreams, for without the dreams why even bother fighting the battles. Excellent! As I said.

A young friend from So. Africa told me if  you can dream it, you can have it. And a favorite author wrote, "but you may have to work for it."  Another verse I read recently said that there is nothing that will not be brought to the light... and that was a scripture.  I've found this to be true.  It is much more pleasant if there is someone to share your dreams and to say, "I am here, and I'm not going anywhere," when you need to feel arms around you.  But the gift is always life with it's twists and turns teaching us to carve our lives of spirit. And that leads me to other poetic lines:

"Oh dreamer leave thy dreams for joyful waking,"  (To the tune of Danny Boy)

It's part of a hymn, but it holds the promise of living with joy. You covered it all in your heartfelt words, Paul.  Thank you for them and for stirring my thoughts.  ~Karen

This is a beautifully uplifting write, dear Paul. Indeed dreams are the first step to change reality, to improve our own life and that of our fellow travellers. Thank you for your wise words.

Karen...Thank you so much for reading and your thoughtful reply. I like to think that alot of my poems are spiritual in some way, because I feel the words come from someone other than me. I also like to think that these words may in some way help others to beter understand life and what really matters. Thanks again...Paul

Marghertia...Thank you so much for your sweet words. Finally I am starting to get back into writting. I hope my muse decides to stay awhile...Paul

The flow of words runs so smooth, words of wisdom with so much truth in them. Great poem.

"Take comfort from love ones

I think that verse is so important and I appreciate your view on it.
However, I like all the rest too!

Nicely done. We should all live our lives in preparation for the revelation. Good job Paul. I like it.

I really enjoyed this Paul.  I like the brighter side of you, and knowing how much you have shared the darkness with me, it was a true pleasure reading this.
