happiness isn't that difficult though it does take a willing heart willing to understand her willing to be understood two emotions which must be realized before you can go on to the other minor, but greatly appreciated affection affection showed by a smile from across the room affection showed by a tender touch when needed affection showed by a tender touch when not needed happiness isn't that difficult it is easily attainable never fall into the trap of boredom routine surprise her give her encouragement when she is down and blue it all goes back to being able to understand her and the backbone to let her know you do in little ways happiness isn't the bottom line on a ledger sheet no … happiness is simply love being manifested being showed outwardly not with expensive gifts necessarily but with glances, smiles, touching these things cost you nothing except pure devotion in return and that pure devotion is simply her returning to you what is yours happiness is two people understanding the other's needs and wants happiness is two people giving of themselves emotionally and softly physically and then there is the happiness of primitive lust the rewards are magnificent for both of you ©January 26, 2012 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ I gave up feeling guilty just to survive a long time ago ~*~ |

Thank you, Lori. I guess I made being happy a simple thing, but that's because I think it is. Just loving and showing that love works. Tried and true. ~*~ I gave up feeling guilty just to survive a long time ago ~*~ |

I enjoyed your poem immensely, Jerry, and I agree that you can make happiness by relating to somebody else, but I just want to say that you can also be happy without depending on anyone. I have written a lot about happiness, and here are 2 of my poems about it – just an opinion – hope you don’t mind. SPLASH HAPPINESS 18 February 2011 A car passed and the roadside puddle lit up in laughter and tossed a thousand liquid diamonds into the sunlight in a joyous prayer of gratitude. RECIPE FOR HAPPINESS 11 January 2006 It’s simply about joining them (like dots), really . . . the good moments, I mean. It can be done, you know. (I had lots of them today - in between, well . . . The Others.) You just need to hem them and then tug them a little especially at the corners to cover The Others and then stitch them together quickly and neatly or as quickly and as neatly as you can and Bob is your friend. You see, he can’t be your uncle because nobody – or almost nobody - has an Uncle Bob. Raise your hand those with an Uncle Bob? . . . You see, very few of you have an Uncle Bob so he will have to be your friend - except, of course, for those of you who have a real Uncle Bob. Now, with The Others stitched safely away, and your good friend, Bob, . . . what more could you possibly want? Owl |

Owl, nowhere in my poem did I infer an act of dependence, so I don't know where you got that idea from. My whole poem was an act of "giving," period. Thank you for stopping by, but I think you have allowed the Superwoman idea to cloud what you read. ~*~ I gave up feeling guilty just to survive a long time ago ~*~ |

Jerry, you misunderstand me completely. What I meant was that what you described, involved somebody else. I was just saying (opinions are allowed, I believe) that, in addition to happiness involving somebody else, it can also exist without somebody else. I didn't mean YOU were depending on somebody else. I simply read that the HAPPINESS you described depended on somebody else. There was no need to bite my head off. Owl |

great subject matter to write about....happiness being something transitory...temporary...immediate...but not consistently enduring (at least, not for many of us)...being quite elusive... but beautifully penned, here, Mr. Pat!

"happiness is simply love being manifested being showed outwardly not with expensive gifts necessarily but with glances, smiles, touching" This has got to be one of your best. Very much enjoyed the read, Jerry! JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

Thank you, JL. Kinda nice to see someone who takes the poem as it is and not nit-pick it. I appreciate that. ~*~ I gave up feeling guilty just to survive a long time ago ~*~ |

You are so right, LeeJ, and there are ways to promote happiness, but both have to participate or it doesn't work. Thank you for the read and the comments. ~*~ I gave up feeling guilty just to survive a long time ago ~*~ |

Wonderful Jerry! I think this should be read at each wedding, and each anniversary thereafter as a reminder. So very true indeed, very nicely penned, much enjoyed. Best wishes, /Kit |
