How far have you traveled, o’ wave hitting shore For the end is not there on the crest that we see The ebb draws you back to begin once more Did you endanger ships on the shore side of lee Or are you taken to the currents in the deepest sea Did you slide under the wooden hulls of yore Gentle at times or tempest in rage With wind lashed tops when the wind does soar Showing a fury no man can gauge Til one has won in violent engage Who can say where that wave has come Or the age of the water that eyes do see Did it hear the roll of Nelson’s drum Amidst the flotsam of Spanish debris Or lap Viking fiord with ancient scree With gentle kiss you touch the beach Or roaring breakers to toss and crash But whatever you do, with history teach For the seas are ancient and often brash With salt filled flakes and eventual splash |

Nice take on the ever doings of the sea and its impact on everything it touches, some good, some bad Strummer. Nice work. WORD TO HUSBANDS . . . |
