The Rubber Room Well, I've tried on it, it just don't fit... This one size suits all, straight-jacket society. I've tried to conform, just to meet the "norm", A challeng in itself to my sobriety. I've spilled my guts just to be called "nuts" By eighty dollar-an-hour quiet clowns, Who just stare me funny, like I owe them money... No smiles, no tears, no smirks, no frowns. Whatever I say or do, it's catch 22, I've already been branded... Treating my truths as sadness, my lies as madness, I'll ever be reprimanded. They show me splotched ink, ask me what I think... I tell them I don't think abstractly. But they twist each word, to make me sound absurd - Prick at my weak points so exactly. Till every voice fades, as blackness invades, Across my temples, violently pulsating... As the silent rage slowly comes of age, And I can no longer give into the grating. It's what they've pushed for, so I let it soar... The hate, the anger, the rage, but then... Restraints, an injection - goodbye recollection, I wake up in the rubber room again. I think each and every one of us has been in our own private rubber room far more times than we like to let on. This was crazy, so crazy it made absolute sense, Michael. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

They stopped putting me in rubber rooms . . . now they're Kevlar. Don't know what they're thinking. Enjoyed the bounce-around, my friend. j. |

It has occured to me that sometimes the questioners are crazier than the questionees. Ida |

They show me splotched ink, ask me what I think... I tell them I don't think abstractly. Oh, but how you do think! *S* I love this, dear friend... in part because of the great rhyme... but even more because my sessions with the funny stares have led to exactly one instance where I didn't feel all efforts were a total waste of time and money I couldn't afford to waste. Gripping, superb write!! The title made me smile because we often use the term in jest... but the truths are too sad to be funny. |
