THE RIVER RED Immortals thirst to quench Others queasy, stomach clench A finger drop, a puncture splay Some faint at its display The crimson flow Be it thick and slow Or anemic, pale and thin Liquid ruby or vermilion Pusling quick or slow Tide rising high or low Thickly coursing thru So dark the hue The scarlet wealth Is life it self The heart bled The river red [This message has been edited by katahdin (03-10-2012 07:02 AM).] |

Interestingly created and very well constructed, Kat. I had figured out what the red river was before I read to the end, but it had me going for a while. Good stuff. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Like Jerry said "well construted" But when I read it it sounded like something to do with vampires.. Now that I know, it fits the lab tech, blood theme well...:-) Well done, Kat "Poetry is an echo, asking a shadow to dance." Carl Sandburg |

It gives much to think about. Pip will not permit me to email you... The link is there, but clicking has no effect and will not open it. I wanted to send you a poem to go with your Daddy's Goose but I'll see what I can do? Waves of crinson Jaime |

They say that the saline concentration in our sweat, blood and tears is the same as that in seawater. The Ocean, the cradle and incubus of life, thus resides in our bodies, its rhythms and its ebb and flowing its beating waves and moods and tides; its summer and winter, its automn and springtime, its morning and night. There is something very elemental and in a way passionate in the poem because it is, like you say, the blood, the inflow and outflow, the breating the surging and pulsating of blood, the water of life itself. And red, the color of life itself!!! Now I better send this before it gets eaten again ... |

I enjoyed the descriptiveness of this Kat, and the direction this piece took. I found it doubly intriguing to subsequently read of your lab tech correlation. Nicely penned. Best wishes, Kit |
