Release

The chains, they strike the ground,
As you look to the sky...
And though you don't have wings,
You're sure that you can fly.
You speak, but make no sound.
It's taken by the wind.
And though darkness still sings,
You no longer pretend

It's all you hear as you listen—
All you see as you stare,
With eyes freshly awakened
To what's always been there.
And it's a strange sensation
To not fall through the cracks;
With all that life has taken,
To find you can relax.

The words, they cut your soul,
And yet granted release.
You close your eyes at night
In an aura of peace.
The pain has lost control.
Your eyes, they finally see
There's no reason to fight
A man you'll never be.

The cost, it has been paid.
The time, it has been served.
A truth ever untold,
'Twas more than you deserved.
But of promises made
You still have mind to keep,
Though most you held was sold,
You're dreams weren't priced so cheap.

And you're the architect
Of the dream you walk through,
When you but realize
There's nothing you can't do.
The ache, fallen suspect,
If once priceless and dear;
I shall not aggrandize,
And no more will revere.

It feels as if a regeneration is taking place, dear Michael. Eyes that see more clearly  because they stop to judge. A heart in peace creates room for new energy of love.

Exquisitely written.

From the title, through to the very last line, this is beautiful Michael.  You've captured that understanding and snapshot in time of a recognition that allows encouragement and hope to flow through beyond the dark. I loved this.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Michael! Your poetry deeply speaks to me! And effects my own heart! You write well, with deep conviction, thought, and truly some real felt experience! I've been tossed as of late and find your own words relate to my current tumult! Cheers!!!

What a blessing this is! I feel as if I just watched you cross the finishline to a grueling marathon or reach the top of a mountain!
