unnatural lights fighting to light the dark like an off-Broadway play set-up the lights sputter abnormal heartbeat of the ones who walk the cruel streets they can't know who is secretly watching them in a way its good they don't indistinct shadows creep along with bloodlust its aim the shadow is there to take a naïve life a knife flashes when it is pulled back it is coated red one flashing knife one dead because of that one dead man many lives are broken he had a wife or mother maybe both children and their children grandpa cousins, nephews one flashing knife disrupted so many lives on the other hand the killer was apprehended brought to trial and because he killed in the state of Texas was found guilty and given the death penalty those who knew the killer can't help but still love him wife, mother, children, all of the above can't believe he did it he had so much to live for he'd give you the shirt off his back taking another human beings life doesn't stop with just that one act it's like an avalanche rolling downward encompassing many people in its path ©July 16, 2013 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ But I have promises to keep, / And miles to go before I sleep.--Frost ~*~ |
