Lost for Words

Lost for words, a voice unheard,
I wither in the dark.
Silence rages 'cross these pages,
So empty, pale and stark.
The woe I've felt I have watched melt.
All notion now succumb
To Death's power, hour by hour
Sitting here, blank and numb.

Nothing to say, I've gone astray
And know there's no way back.
Bidding adieu to pain once knew;
All feeling now in lack...
A whitewashed dream, a voiceless scream;
I'm trapped within its tone.
This endless sea, it swallows me
As I walk on alone.

Love to impart, I cross my heart
And bend knee to the pledge.
For others' joy, I'll be their toy—
My toast to sacriledge.
Unspoken voice leaving no choice,
I live to make them smile.
The palsied sham of who I am,
Bedridden in denial.

Be drunk.  Be gone!  The lie drags on,
Cursing me in its shame.
The price one pays when yesterday's
All you've left of your name.
All chance of change gothic and strange,
You ride the unvoiced whim
Till dark abounds— till Silence sounds
Her last unnurtured hymn.

Oh, I confess, of Emptiness
I've drank beyond my fill.
To feel, at all, I've charged her hall—
My last act of free will.
Absence of sense, the consequence
A guiltless mime must pay.
The price given, I stand riven,
Watching life bleed away.

I'm impressed deeply by your writing, Michael!
I can feel the pain in it and the feeling of emptiness, and how far they can lead.
But you should never give up the good in you, even if nobody is listening to your voice!
Thank you for sharing!

After a couple reads, I still couldn't get in to this one, as I normally do with yours, my friend.  And, usually I don't say such a thing, but I don't feel you'll take it the wrong way.

My loss, I'm sure.

And then tomorrow is another day.  I certainly "got into" this one, Michael, and am deeply touched.  Perhaps there comes a time for all of us when we "watch life bleed away" and perhaps it has to be that way to enable us to let go.  Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps!  We stand no chance of knowing the absolute truth about life and why it leads us the way it does but we can give meaning to it by expressing in words the place we're at at the time.  It will change - that's the only certain thing about life.
