Scripture says Forgive them... They know not what they do... The longer I ponder upon these words the more I see it to be true How many times myself haveI heard my own heart asking What have I done? Getting caught up in the brambles of thoughts and emotions it is all too easy to lose your way To take a wrong turn and trip off an unforgiving cliff There we find ourselves stuck trying to find forgiveness from ourselves for our mistakes When what we truly need do is forgive them who cannot forgive us LGR(C)11/3/13 |

Forgiveness is a much overused word I feel like. Of course there are times when we need forgiveness and times to forgive. I disagree that we only need to forgive those who cannot forgive us, personal forgiveness makes it easy to forgive others. ~*~ Who remembers Pete Best? He was the drummer before Ringo Starr ~*~ |

I agree. I found that for myself, it was very hard to forgive myself for things I knew other people couldn't. So forgiving them cleared the path to forgiving myself. Looking at it from that perspective helped me alot. And your continual reminders about self forgiveness didn't hurt a bit either! Thanks my friend! Lori |

A thought-provoking poem. The more I get known the world the less I find reasons to take offence at anybody in it. Thank you for sharing, Lori! |

Don't know that I agree with the overall premiss, but I do know when I like something I read. Well worded, my friend and I enjoyed the read. j. |

One of life's toughest realizations here, Lori, and one few are capable of processing. You can never earn that forgiveness you so desperately need no matter what kind of self-penalizing penance you may come up with for yourself. It can only be granted you by a willing, not persuaded heart. Forgiving those who cannot or will not forgive you is all you can do, lest it eat you up inside. Great writing. Michael |
