        November Desiderium

Just past a declining November sun,
as  the clear-bright, wordless moon
slips through the twilight forest
and the barriers of a lonely mind
dispensing pure-silvered
wisdom and enlightenment,
gathering shadows tumble-
dance with the last vestiges
   of Autumn passing
to a relentless Winter wind.
In this colorless, dying world
of fading youth, half-forgotten
dreams, and loved ones oh so
   very far away,
across this cruel and random life
of dark, unintentional malice and
   inevitable separations,
beyond all the desperate emptiness
perhaps poetry, truth, and love
shall stand.
