http://soundcloud.com/diana-van-den-berg-2/the-path-inwards-onwards-and THE PATH INWARDS, ONWARDS AND UPWARDS 14 October 2013 There is a still small melody whispering on a lonesome flute in the forest of my thoughts, and I stop to listen to its tale, blending with the chirrups in the living air around me as I stand here on the damp carpet of golds and ochres and sunkissed browns in my garden forest. And here, a fallen trunk a serene memorial, damp and textured, of a tall tree who has met its maker, invites me to honour it by sitting on it. I do, and caress its grooves unique and precious, on its comforting roundness decaying graciously with time. I remember how tall it stood and how it waved its rich brown branches festooned with happy leaves of green in dance choreographed by the wind, how it embraced the monkeys who fed on its fruits and bounced on its branches, and the tears fall, and I know the tree and its fallen trunk know and understand and will welcome me one day when I join it and Flicka, Tigger and Daisy and all my other animals and the inhabitants of my forest, my animal, bird, insect, hopping, crawling, slithering and fluttering friends, and my trees and my flowers, in the sunshine of celestial bliss and communication. I deeply enjoyed and related to the harmony of woman and nature displayed in your lovely poem. |

There is a kinship with nature which takes some people most of their lives to understand, and then there are others who have had a love affair with it from very early on. I think they are the lucky ones. ~*~ Your past is just a story. Once you realize this, it has no power over you. ~*~ |

Thank you, EmmaRose. Yes, I know you relate so beautifully to Nature. I see it and feel it in your poetry, and I am glad that my poem resonated with you so well. Thank you, Jerry. Yes, you are right. I am one of those very, very lucky people. I remember thoughts and feelings about my bond with Nature that I was far too young to be able to express, but I kept them cocooned and treasured in my memory all these years and they enrich me. I also love nature and feel the warmth and strength of large rocks but I do not seem to blend into nature as you do.You seem to be a large part of it all and just blend in so that a passerby might even miss your presence.love, Jo |

That, Martyjo, is possibly the most beautiful thing that anyone has ever said of me! Thank you! I will remember this for always! Hugs and love Owl |

This poem at first glance seems somber, but there is celebration and thankfulness here too and it was read so very nicely, with a calm and soothing voice...much enjoyed..thank you for sharing.. Goldenrose. Peace is not only better than war, but infinitely more arduous - George - Bernard Shaw. |
