I'm surrounded with unread books,
And they all had excellent hooks;
Books I never had time to read,
Though from each of them I did feed.
Some of the tomes written by me,
Hard to sell, most I gave out free.
I was no literary giant,
To my critics I was defiant.
And so I pen this poem to say,
Take them and read, don't throw away.
It would please me if you did that,
For each one read I'll tip my hat.
My Mother's Revenge is the first,
That makes it special; maybe cursed.
Last one is The Late Great God,
Some might think that title is odd.
If you don't want to read my works,
I'll not think that you are a jerk.
Just leave them alone piled up neat,
Bugs and critters, they have to eat.

You have poured stories of your life in your books, Jerry, and I am sure your words are always food for thought for your readers, enriching them, widening their knowledge of humanity.

Your poem makes for a great read too. It's a little bit melancholic, a little bit cynical, but it also conveys inner growth and wisdom.

I like this your poem, Jerry )
Maybe it's because I also live "surrounded with unread books".

Thanks Gale. Yeah there are a lot of us out here with more books than they can read. Even so I found two books for $3.00 a piece today, couldn't turn them down.

I don't think you give yourself enough credit for your books or your poetry. You are rather prolific on both counts. I admire the the fact you have even one book let alone (how many now) 7 or 8?

I have fourteen books, Lori, but now I think I have ran out of words, except for the poetry. I hope I never run out of words there. Thanks for being here today.
