Fox River These Lazy old waters meandering through And dreamers like me watching rivers like you The tall waving grasses against a blue sky Whisper a sigh as our life passes by My friend, old Fox River, moves on toward the sea Don't leave here ,Fox River without taking me Sweet moments, like water, just keep flowing on In only a moment, a moment is gone By night, you keep travelling, so slowly you glide What moon is your lover? What star is your guide? What dream do you carry with you to the sea? Perhaps it's the dream of a dreamer like me My friend, old Fox River, moves on toward the sea Don't leave here ,Fox River without taking me Sweet moments, like water, just keep flowing on In only a moment, a moment is gone Elizabeth Santos |

" Don't leave here ,Fox River without taking me " I think many of us, especially as we age, are singing that tune - or should I say lament? - It's scary to think we could be left behind, lost. j. |

Beautiful as always, Liz. I love the whole poem, of course, as always, but one interpretation of it frightens me. So, I think I will go with the other interpretation. Be well. Owl |

Lovely, in a haunting way. ~*~ I don't have to eat sarcasm to recognize the flavor. ~*~ |

What dream do you carry with you to the sea? Perhaps it's the dream of a dreamer like me Simply awesome, dear Elizabeth, with its touch of sweet melancholy. Margherita |

Love the waving grasses against a blue sky the whisper as our life passes by and that line: "In only a moment a moment is gone." Very much enjoyed. Kerri |

Deep, and quite profound, as is much of what flows forth from your pen these days. A lovely verse, much enjoyed. Michael |

This rhymes and reads very well a fine poem that could also make a good song lyric too? Thank you for sharing.. Goldenrose Peace is not only better than war, but infinitely more arduous - George - Bernard Shaw. |
