For Sooth

Oh for sooth
if love but did not
in its blessed self
flower above the thorn
and soothe the wounds
of our imperfect souls

would not we die
in the aftermath
if in no other way
than by our own hand.

would God
in his holiness
look away
as we tore open
that which allows us
to be

or would He intercede
as is preached and told
by the gospels o'er the land

of this
I have some doubt
as the blood
of my torn and shredded
heart
pools at my feet
my soul
being stained

with red.

I love how the flower outlives the thorn and has to , if but only to hang on when we are at our most vulnerable, with little to soothe us.

Dear Jimmy, no doubt Love heals everything, even the deepest wounds. You write so intensely about the soul's suffering. And yet, I see our soul as perfect, it can't be stained, that's only the mind who tricks us into thinking this.

Good to see you here, Jimmy.

Thanks my friends for all your words. Tremendous amount of depth in this piece . . . understood or not.
