Beyond the Winter’s Call

Here in this wilderness
where no clocks compel
   our lives,
only mist, clouds,
and moonlit shadows
   abound,
as Summer fades
by imperceptible
measure into Fall,
with each rising
of a grand lucent
‘Deep-Time’ moon
and cool-crisp wind
at sunset through these
ancient ‘endless’ hills,
as it has over two hundred
million times before.
Perhaps the pristine beauty
of this moment, your spirit,
   and our love
can fool the Autumn into
lingering long beyond
the Winter’s call!

That is a magician's slight of hand forestalling winter's icy grip. I imagine at this time of the year, maybe a week further, the beauty of the leaves changing is spectacular.

you know maybe once when humans were more spiritual we may have harnessed that type of energy we may just have to double our effort

Lovely, Bruce.  They do say that what the mind can perceive it can achieve and I believe that but perhaps just not in our present lifetime.

thanks so much to each of you for your comment/reply posts on this 'write!'

I was accused by one of my (rather many) 'critics' of writing happy/smarmy
"pseudo-sentimental syrup-dipped tripe" ... perhaps they are right ... but
maybe this double-post-modern world could use a dose of said tonic ?!

I think your "tonic" is just what the world needs, Bruce. Works for me.

Bruce, in my not so humble opinion, your jealous critic was clutching at imaginary straws!
