my happiness grows and grows
I'd never felt
this way before
it's as if the heavens
were all aglow
for . . .
when I saw her
oh, I wanted more
my heart felt
as though it would burst,
n'er before had I felt such emotion
I longed for her arms
to be my early morning dove
I've said the words I love you
many times before
but now when I say it
the cadence of my voice
is strong with meaning
and brings tears to my eyes
when the wind blows
it whispers her name
where the leaves fall into the river
and floats down to me
I pluck it from the bayou
caress it
smell her scent
oh yes, she is a woman
ahhh, but much more than that
she gives the earth its vibrancy
and me my everything
love
when I speak it
she snuggles close to me
