When

When the stars are agleam at night
I see those shining eyes
That used to take my breath away,
Till I filled them with lies.
When sun clears mountain, bold and bright,
And lays claim to the skies;
To bring forth light for a new day,
Yes, I still see those eyes.

When wind blows gentle, on my skin,
I think of her soft touch.
Brushing her hair, fingers to lips,
Those things that meant so much...
If just for her, if just back then,
And now for me as such;
The winds blow soft, and the mind slips
To when it was her touch.

When music glides unto my ears,
I can still hear her sing...
Easing my troubles, all my fears
And undo suffering.
A voice of love, sometimes it seems
To erase the lost years,
Adrift through the most restful dreams,
With her song in my ears.

And when a tear down cheek should roll,
I feel her tender kiss—
All those passions restrained below,
That fountained into bliss.
Sweetness of life breathed into soul,
God, I remember this!
Eyes closed, head back and shaking no,
The world has gone amiss.
Sky dark, silent, as cold winds blow,
I die without her kiss.

I wish there was a mechanism of sorts that would allow you to find peace from these sad memories. I know for a fact that writing about them helps, at least it did me. But to finally and forever make peace with the past you must first find a way to forgive yourself. I never thought it was possible to forgive yourself, but I struggled and found a way. I knew that I was not the same man as I was back then, so if I wasn't the same man I could forgive myself. Think about it.

Lori is right. I'm getting off your case. I thought I already had, but from now on I'll just enjoy your poetry.

Tugs at the heart strings for sure.  I guess there are many who die without that kiss but I suppose it does matter that we once had it.  Life is easier to live when we really know that all things eventually pass away - just a battle sometimes with those memories.

I like the flow of this. Enjoyed.

I'll keep these dreams hidden
inside these eyes of mine
until my tears fall
unto my tainted hear
