Today in Lewisville, Arkansas there will be a "Bolton's Cousins Reunion." I can't make it, but I was asked to write a poem (two days before the event, thank you for the intense pressure, Nan) and this is my effort . . .

A special day is taking place,
In Lewisville, Arkansas today.
A reunion, lots of buzzing,
With these people known as cousins.

Ahhh  . . . It gets complicated too,
Concerning them and those and you.
Cousins driving here from miles away,
Just to be here this special day.

Who are you, and who is your dad?
Oh, yes I heard, that is so sad.
Wish I was a bird in a tree,
Sitting there, see what I could see.

Your dad's my uncle, your mom's my aunt,
Remember the song we used to chant?
We have something in common you see,
We're all from the same family tree.

All the hugs and pats on the back,
Even before you get unpacked.
I imagine some tears might swell,
And you know there will be some yells.

It will be a very fine affair,
This reunion is something rare!
There'll be so much to talk about,
And socializing, there's no doubt.

Would that I could be there also,
To see everyone that I know.
And this is what they all would claim,
Darn it, Pat, you still look the same.

That's a reunion alright! The only thing you didn't talk about was food. There is always food at a reunion. And indigestion

I had food in it in the first draft, but somehow I took it out. Shoulda left it in. Thanks Lori for bringing that up.
