Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2013-08-01 12:45 PM

I finally brought my myself
to sit as if it
was any other night
on my porch
I lit the same candles
Sat in my same chair
Played with the cat
Then settled back
to listen to the
sounds of the night
But they had changed
in your vacuum left behind
The new sound curiosity
morphing into angst
Sinister seems the serenade
to my only ears listening
There is no peace
upon this porch
I go back inside
cheeks glistening

I like this because you bring me there, the porch, the candles, and even the cat..but mostly, I relate to memories sucking you in, glistening cheeks and all.

Maybe things will even out.

Kaoru-thank you for your very specific comments about my poem, I appreciate the feedback very much. I always am delighted to hear when someone can relate.

I'm sure all will be fine too Jerry. I was just so disapointed that sitting on the porch last night gave no solace at the end of a long and frustrating day, in fact it just added to it. But you know me, I'm a big baby, wah, wah!

I really like right-in-front-of-you poems.  Much better that the abstract and the obscure.

Me too Krawdad, even though there are times I suppose I've been a little obscure myself.
