BEN 27 July 2013 May you have felt my love for you, the only love you ever knew, in the glorious winter sunshine on your ridgeback wherever you are this sunny day, my darling, puppy love. May you forgive me not for my sake, but yours and may you know in the depth of your loving heart that though my plans I whispered to you over the fence failed, I tried and tried and tried, and didn’t give up, even after your owners snatched you away and gave me 2 different stories of which town you are in, but all that counts for nothing because I failed you and was unable to save you from your future of neglect. Please hear me every day across the ether when I talk to you and most of all, know that Auntie Di loves you so very much and prays for you every day that God will find a way, preferably that your owners change their mind and agree to sell you. I can live with the anguish of not knowing, if you can just find a loving, caring home. I must admit, Ben, sweetie-pie, that even if I hadn’t tried to do it the kind way for your owners and eventually the negotiation way, I don’t know how I could have done it any other way, because the legal way could have ended you up in an SPCA cage for the time between the court order and the finalisation of the court case, which could have taken a year or more which is worse than your current life, and then the owners may still have won the case, and you would have been worse off than you are now. If we could have saved you, we had a wonderful loving, caring, foster - and possibly permanent - home waiting for you for as long as you needed it (Auntie Di inspected it), and we would have found you a permanent home where you were showered with love and attention as you could never dream of. Auntie Di is going to try to change the laws even if it takes 10 years or more to succeed or fail though it probably won’t help you, but maybe it will help other doggies in the future. I gut-scrape-ache for you every moment of every day my darling puppy, Ben. Please remember how much I love you, Ben sweetheart, with every teardrop of my heart. A torn and tattered Owl |

this rips at the heartseems Dear Owl, in bittersweet reminder of how they depend on us humans to do all we can to get them through their often wretched lives. Thankfully there are great Owls and some other good ones out here for them, though this is sad in tone |

Thank you, EmmaRose. No matter how hard I tried to save him, my efforts mean nothing, because I failed, and he is living a life of neglect and I don't know where. Owl |

a most emotive and heart-felt write and an effective indictment of an all-too-common reality in this sad, 'ol world ... well said! There are a number of animals (and people) I wish I could have saved along the way ... |

Please remember how much I love you, Ben sweetheart, with every teardrop of my heart. He knows, dear friend... for animals read our hearts. And whatever his future, he will remember that you gave him unconditional love and would have given more if circumstances had allowed. Heart hugs to you both. |

Thank you, Ruth, my dear, kind, understanding friend. I hope he is remembering, because that was the only love he ever knew. It rips me apart that he is alone, cold, hungry, and not being fed the right food, but most of all unloved, and regarded solely as a burglar alarm. I will send your hugs to him over the ether and just hope he gets them, and mine. Owl |
