Fair to middlin' of nowhere

Things I had forgotten
about healing
First and foremost
is time
and it's
ambiguous span
It is painful
Painful as
the wound
its self
For indeed it is
the wound
its self
It is growth
It is learning
from the dark
into the light
And the wanting
is always on
the dawning of
yesterday

Getting into yourself is a sometimes very painful thing to do, Lori, I agree with you and have experienced it myself. Although no one can truly understand another's pain. All we can do is try.

I love the healing balm in your ponder-poem, Lori, the pathway being succinctly reminiscent of Plato's allegory of The Cave his "The Republic" which has fascinated me for decades.  I really enjoyed wandering through your poem, from darkness into light, the poem becoming more beautiful with every line.

Jerry is so extremely right in saying that none of us can ever truly understand another's pain.

Laugh or cry
Heal or die
it is not rocket science
It may be rock science
getting inside my head

Always good to hear from you Jerry

Owl! Good to hear from you. Thank you for your kind words. I was hoping the last line or two would bring a smile.

Just gotta remember not to pick the scabs!  Healing is a process for most people...  sometimes a painstakingly long one.  Others sometimes never heal but just learn to live through the pain.  Let's hope you're one of the former.  Enjoyed the read.

I like to think I'm the former...If you stop and think about it, at any given time we are all healing from something-hangnail or papercut. And there are the old wounds long since healed that still manage to give us grief from time to time. Some of my most blessed moments have come in times of dispair, reminding me of the gift of growth in hard times.
