Fair to middlin' of nowhere

0 posted 2013-06-23 12:23 PM

I'm Queen of denial
comfortably reclining
on my barge of bovine fecal bliss

I refuse to accept
my self inflicted
and autoimmune
To give my body's
fragile health
only healing things

As sure as
I am putting these
words to paper
I'm killing myself

I am the perfect storm
With chocolate as
my witness
I swear
I am a stroke
waiting to happen

A massive heart attack
on my horizon
does not detour me
from my compulsions
and addictions

Depression is my shadow
and it is never
high noon
in denial

I don't think what you say is funny, although it was meant that way. I almost killed myself before I admitted, really admitted, that I was committing suicide and I took preventive measures. Hope you will do the same . . . soon.

I was trying to sugar coat the truth I guess. And you are right, my dear friend, SOON is the key word.

Wow... what an awesome ending.  At least you dared to peek in on yourself, most never will, and be anywhere near honest with themselves about what they saw.  You know I am geared toward darkness anyhow, so you're probably not surprised to to find I absolutely loved this entire piece.  Well done.

Hard to pull that plug
or even reach for it . . .

I sometimes
look into a mirror
and wonder at my disguise.

Michael, forgive my lateness in responding to comments on this poem...Denial and adversion seem to be coconspiritors. I have referenced this subjuct before as slittling my wrists with a butter knife. Yes, you do dark very well, too well for me some times,
I can only read you in small doses. You paint pain with Norman Rockwell accuracy.

Krawdad,  I love it that you  used the word disguise... we do become masters of it don't we. Very insightful. Thanks for your comment
