Evening settles into the easy chair of nightfall watching creation switch shifts in the summertime The blessed cool and relentless heat nod in passing as they punch the time clock in and out Wind blows by breeze on its way Bird songs change from chirps to hoots and screeches fly and bee buzzing turn the stage over to the strafing soprano of mosquitoes Coyote and fox chime in with howls and yips while bull frogs carry the bass line Supper smells are finished like the dishes clothes dryers done exhaling their clean fragrances The fresh cut of various green takes the air on sweet rain vapors en route to clouds The soil wears earth's perfume LGR(C)6/15/13 |

Taking nature on is a good thing. You have perfected this poem to the point I can hear the howls of the coyote and the nips of the fox. Nicely done. ~*~ A man can fail many times, but he isn't a failure until he begins to blame somebody else.-John Burroughs ~*~ |

Thanks Jerry, I've got a front row seat every evening from my front porch. We decided not to feed the foxes this year, they were beautiful to see up close... but they left little brown calling cards every where!! It was a little more nature than we needed. LOL! Lori ![]() |

Absolutely captivating, dear Lori! Such a live concert plants gratitude into our hearts, though of course we could do without that "soprano" intrusion ![]() Felt joy reading this. Margherita |

This was certainly refreshing. Made me want to take a deep breath and start this day all over, with a much brighter outlook this time around. Thank you, Lori. Michael |

Margherita, You humble me to tears that I could move you to joy with my meager words. I could do without the "skeeters" too, but then what would those beautiful sky diving barn swallows eat? I have a very vivid memory of an orange suset sky silhouetting barn swallows and swarms of mosquitos. It was amazing! We are still waiting for a bat to take up residence in the bat house we have. We live so closed to the River we need to put up a major Martin condo! Thanks again! Lori ![]() |
