Not yet evolved some trees don’t know
to remain constant and sure
so they move to the beat of circumstance
and drop all their leaves to the ground.

Unadorned by the truth there’s something not right
and yet there’s no time for review
when teamed as they are with the like-minded
all dancing to the same tune.

Joined as they are by the circumstance, life
they appear as dead to all passers by
but unperturbed there’s no sympathy
when thinking that nature has its own rules.

So back the trees come to inherent beauty
until the band starts up again
and they dance as before not having learnt
anything meaningful.

It’s the cycles of life that persist, persist,
when mistakes of the past not taken to heart
and imbued with love’s feel day in/day out
to ensure eventual consistency.

But how captivatingly the band plays
and how willingly we move from this into that
but only when led by the heartfelt truth
can evolution finally rest.

And then, what then?  Why summer, my friend,
a beautiful and forever summer
but I can’t say how long it will take
when I like the trees not yet evolved!

There is so much to like and identify with.
Your poetry is all heart and soul, and continues to move me (after all these years)....Hugs, honey girl~

Thank you, dear Bluesy gal.  Yes, it's been a long time but then perhaps maybe just a blink of an eye if time turns out to be not how we have always thought it to be.

And so, until I close my eyes for one last time and finally get to grips with that heart and soul you speak of the stories will no doubt continue although I'm not really sure why that has to be. Maybe just to move myself and then how gratifying if I can move others at the same time.

Take care - always.

This is lovely Helen ... so much to ponder here. It makes me feel that even as time goes on and seasons flow one into the next, that there is an undeniable consistency to life. Much enjoyed.

Best wishes,
/Kit

Evolution comes naturally and you are part of it, just like the trees, dear Helen.

Loved your analogies here, you always write in a profound way to stir our thoughts.

Perpetual is the renewal of all things. This we know and one day we shall be able to unveil all the mysteries of this our life and death, renewal.

Love,
Margherita

Thanks everyone.  I very much appreciate you reading and commenting.  My stories are perpetual it seems but nothing is at it seems so unlike the trees that come back as before it's unlikely to happen that way for us - if it happens at all that is.  Yes, Margherita, one day the mystery will be revealed but (sigh) I want to know things now - like before they happen.

Helen, this is superb.  I love reading it out loud. It's a keeper.

Thanks, Alison.  I've only ever read one piece of mine out loud.  It was in front of a church congregation after the minister cautioned everyone to be still and listen carefully.  That was rather intimidating for one such as me but ... hey, I did it!     When my son helped me off the stage he kissed me and I think they all then "melted".  Long time ago now.

Those trees do echo our own lives.  I am grateful for them, as  you are as well.
I can't imagine not looking out the window each season and feeling in tune with what they are having showered upon them, whether
a ravaging storm or a sweet coat of fresh pink paint.

A great awareness of this is spoken in your lovely poem
