.

Inside the woman I love
Is an eight year old girl
Afraid of our gray hair

In that small child’s world
She understands without words
That the slowing ways I move
Portend nothing good

The various pills
Taken at frequent intervals
Doctors special and general
Only assuage the passing of time

Oh little angel I can see
The fear in your eyes

Dusk has come let us again
Walk by the shore invisible
And watch for guiding stars
