Inside the woman I love Is an eight year old girl Afraid of our gray hair In that small child’s world She understands without words That the slowing ways I move Portend nothing good The various pills Taken at frequent intervals Doctors special and general Only assuage the passing of time Oh little angel I can see The fear in your eyes Dusk has come let us again Walk by the shore invisible And watch for guiding stars . |
