Between Day and Night

Was it the smell of cheap perfume in my hair?
(You held me so close)
and I wondered...
If you knew you how far away I was.

As the sun set in the distance
It seemed so close.

Bursts of warm colors
peaked through the low set clouds;
mirrored upon glassy water

but I knew it,
Like you,

Would be on the other side of the world
-In time-

So I held you closer
though I was so far away.

Your poem really emphasize the sweet in the phrase "Parting is such sweet sorrow." Enjoyed!
